Coming from a family of professional performers, her mother plays viola in symphony orchestras, an aunt teaches violin and plays in a chamber orchestra, her grandfather played trumpet in dixieland jazz bands and her grandmother played piano and arranged songs for the family's group "The Versatiles" that included both grandparents and two aunts. Martha has been receiving music lessons since age 4, including violin lessons for 12 years, dance lessons for xx years, percussion for 6 years, and vocal lessons for 7 years. Her desire to perform appeared at age 3 when she often strolled from table to table and sang to patrons at local restaurants. Martha has been playing various musical instruments, starting with the violin at the age of 4. At age 7, Martha performed at Laurel Music Camp, playing violin with piano accompaniment. She has attended Laurel Music Camp for 10 years. She started playing the drum set and other percussions instruments at the age of 12. She started playing acoustic and electric guitar at age 14. She was active in the high school’s music department, participating in Wind Ensemble, Chamber Singers, and the female vocal ensemble, Encore. With these ensembles, Martha competed in Quebec, Disney, and Virginia Beach. She was also a soloist in the RHAM Pop’s Concert for three years. In her senior year, Martha was awarded the RHAM Music Boosters Scholarship as well as the Connecticut Teacher Association Performing Arts Award. Martha Price has performed in various musicals, including the part of Minnie Fay in "Hello Dolly", February 2007, and "Once Upon A Mattress" in May 2008. Martha also participated in a soap opera and commercial acting course taught my Ron Millkie in New York City. Upon admission to Wagner College, she was awarded the Music and Academic Scholarship. Now a junior at Wagner College on Staten Island, Martha is an Arts Administration major with a double minor in French and Journalism. Martha maintains a high GPA and is consistently on the Dean’s List. She writes for the school paper "The Wagnerian", is a sister and philanthropy chair of Alpha Delta Pi, and Special Events Coordinator for Society of Arts Administration Students. She has been invited to join Alpha Mu Theta, the Arts Administration Honors Society. The 49th annual Miss Bristol and Miss Bristol’s Outstanding Teen 2010, showcased off many outstanding contestants, with Martha Price taking home the titles of Miss Bristol 2010. Martha also took home the Interview Award. On November 20, Martha was crowned Miss Hartford County. Follow Martha on her blog Martha Price’s platform is the Ronald McDonald’s House Charity, whose mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. They provide temporary housing for families when their child needs hospital care in a location far from home. |
